Easy Leftover Ham Recipes Your Family Will Actually Eat
Easter might be over, but if your fridge looks anything like mine… that ham is still hanging around.
And as a mom of four, I can tell you—there’s only so many times you can say “we’re having ham again” before the complaints start.
The good news? These are the easy leftover ham recipes my kids actually ask for again. They’re simple, filling, and perfect for turning post-holiday leftovers into dinners your whole family will eat.
Easiest and Quickest: Mini Ham & Cheese Sandwiches

For whatever reason, anything "mini" makes it more edible and exciting for my kids. Your local grocery store should have mini hamburger buns - they're the perfect size for a kid-sized slick of leftover easter ham. And then I throw a few leaves of spinach (more iron than lettuce) , cheese, and then mayo if your kids like it! I've found that most kids like things plain and no sauces seems to be more acceptable for whatever reason.
🥪 Hawaiian Ham & Cheese Sliders

If you only make one thing with your leftover ham—make this.
These sliders are warm, cheesy, buttery, and just the right mix of sweet and savory. They’re perfect for busy nights, quick lunches, or even feeding a crowd.

Why I love it:
- Comes together fast
- Uses a good amount of leftover ham
- My kids always go back for seconds
🥔 Cheesy Garlic Smashed Potatoes
This is one of my favorite ways to use up leftover ham—just swap it in for the bacon in this recipe.
You still get all the crispy edges, soft centers, garlic, and cheese… but now it actually helps use up what’s in your fridge.

🍲 Non-Dairy Ham & Potato Soup (The Best Way to Use Up the Rest)
When I still have ham left and don’t feel like making another “ham dinner,” this is what I make.
It’s warm, filling, and one of the easiest ways to use up a bigger portion of leftover ham without overthinking it.

Why I love it:
- Uses up a good amount of leftover ham at once
- Feels like a completely different meal (not just reheated leftovers)
- Great for busy nights when you want something simple but filling
How I use it after Easter:
- Dice up leftover ham and toss it straight into the soup
- Pair it with rolls or whatever bread we still have
- Make a big batch so lunches are covered for a couple days
The Secret to Actually Using Leftovers (Instead of Wasting Them)
Leftovers only help if you remember to use them.
And if you’ve ever found ham sitting in the back of your fridge a week later… you know exactly what I mean.
Here’s what actually works in our house:
📝 Keep your meals visible
After a holiday, I always map out a few meals so the leftovers don’t go to waste.
A simple fridge planner makes it easy to see:
- what needs to be used up
- what’s for dinner
- what’s coming next

✔️ Keep a running “use it up” list
Instead of forgetting what’s in the fridge, I write it down where everyone can see it.
Things like:
- leftover ham
- produce that needs to be used
- random extras
