Celebrate International Guacamole Day: Easy Recipe + Funky Fall Stickies Fun
September 16 marks International Guacamole Day—the perfect reason to mash, mix, and munch your way through avocado deliciousness. Whether you’re hosting a mini fiesta or just dipping solo, here’s your go-to guide for guac greatness, plus a dash of seasonal flair with our Funky Fall Stickies.
Why We Love International Guacamole Day
- Simple & versatile: A creamy, fresh dip that’s just as perfect for chips as it is as a topping on tacos, burgers, or salad.
- Nutrient-rich: Avocados provide healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins—making guacamole a tasty, guilt-free treat.
- Loaded with tradition: Guacamole dates back to the Aztecs in Mexico—so celebrating feels both delicious and historically rich.
Quick & Flavorful Guacamole Recipe (Serves 4–6)
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
- 2 TBS chopped red onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
- 1 TBS finely diced jalapeño pepper
- Lime Juice (1/2 a lime)
- Optional add-ins: 1 tomato
Instructions:
- Place the onion, jalapeño, salt and half the cilantro on a cutting board and use a fork to mash until juicy.
- Scrape into a bowl, add avocado and remaining cilantro, and mash to desired consistency
- Adjust to your taste: salt, lime juice for sour, more pepper for spiciness.
- If using tomatoes, stir through.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips—or cover with plastic wrap (pour a layer of oil over the guac to avoid browning) and chill until ready.
