🍫 National Fudge Day Recipe: Easy Homemade Fudge to Make with Kids
There’s something incredibly nostalgic about making fudge with your kids — sticky fingers, warm chocolate, and big smiles. National Fudge Day (celebrated on June 16) is a delicious excuse to slow down and create something sweet together. It's one of the random national holidays included on our Holiday Stickie Collection. We use the stickies as an easy way to plan small meaningful activities with my four kids. Each month, after I set up our wall calendar...they excitedly look at the holidays we're celebrating. It's started a really fun tradition in our home! Here is the fudge recipe we're going to use on National Fudge Day this year:
🧁 Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 sugar (if you like it less sweet do 1/4 cup)
- 7 oz jar of marshmallow creme
- 2/3 c evaporated milk
- 1 TBS butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cups milk chocolate chips
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Optional mix-ins: 1/2 cup crushed nuts, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, or sea salt
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Prep your pan: Line an 8x8" square baking dish with foil, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy lifting.
- Melt the ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, marshmallow cream, evaporated milk, butter, and salt over medium heat; bring to full boil and cook for 7 min (stirring constantly)
- Remove from heat. Add all chocolate chips. Stir until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in the vanilla.
- Optional extras: Fold in any mix-ins like marshmallows, chopped nuts, or a sprinkle of flaky salt on top.
- Chill to set: Pour the fudge into the prepared dish, smooth out the top, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
-
Slice & serve: Once set, lift the fudge from the pan and cut into small squares.
🍫 Kid Tip: Let your little ones decorate the top with colorful sprinkles before chilling—it makes the finished fudge even more fun and festive!
👩🍳 Why We Love This Recipe:
- It’s quick and requires minimal prep
- Kid-friendly steps for little helpers
- Makes a thoughtful gift for neighbors or teachers
💡 Tip: You can pour your fudge into silicone molds or shape it into hearts, stars, or letters for extra fun!
